Milau (मिलौ, "let's meet") is a free app that helps people in Nepal make real friends by doing things together: hikes, chiya, board games, futsal, volunteering and more.
Why we built it
Everyone's online, and a lot of us are lonely offline. The group chat says "let's plan something" and nothing happens. Friends move abroad. You move to a new city for work or college and know nobody outside the office or the hostel.
Lots of people want to go out and meet people. What's missing is an easy way to find a plan and a group to go with.
How Milau works
Someone near you hosts something small: a sunrise hike, a game night, chiya at Patan. It's on Milau with a time, a place and a few spots. You tap to join, chat with the group, and show up. Groups are 4 to 20 people, so everyone actually talks.
Don't know what you want to do? Tell Milau in a sentence and it finds real plans that fit. Have an idea but no plan? Milau helps you draft it at a real place. Anyone can host.
What we're not
Milau isn't a dating app, a networking app or another feed to scroll. There's no swiping. The app is just how you get to the plan, and the Milau score only goes up when you go out in real life.

We're a small team in Kathmandu. Milau is starting in the Kathmandu valley and growing city by city. It's on Android now, and the iPhone app is coming soon.
