Anyone can host an activity on Milau, so we lean on transparency and accountability: phone-verified accounts, public reviews, easy reporting, and tools that protect you before, during, and after a meet-up.
How we think about safety
Safety on Milau comes from openness, not gatekeeping. We can't promise how every person will behave, but we can give the community clear signals and quick ways to act when something feels off. Every account is tied to a verified phone number, every host carries their public history, and reporting is always one tap away.
Phone-verified accounts
Everyone signs up with a one-time passcode sent to their phone. Real numbers mean real accountability, and they make throwaway accounts much harder to create.
Public ratings & reviews
After an activity, members rate and review the host. Those reviews stay on the host's profile, so you can see how past meet-ups actually went before you join.
Anonymous reporting
Every activity and profile has a report button. Your identity is never shown to the person you report. Reports can lead to warnings, suspensions, or permanent bans.
Women-friendly badge
A behavioral badge (not a self-declaration) earned by hosts with at least 30% female attendance across their activities and zero safety reports. It reflects how meet-ups actually feel.
Small group sizes
Activities are kept small on purpose. Smaller groups are easier to read, easier to leave if you need to, and far friendlier for first-timers.
Approval before joining
Hosts can choose to review each request before confirming a spot, so they decide who joins, and you arrive to a group that's the right fit.
The women-friendly badge, explained
The badge is awarded automatically based on real behavior, not anything a host claims. A host earns it when their activities draw at least 30% female attendance and carry zero safety reports.
Individual gender is never exposed. Only aggregate composition is ever shown (for example, "35% women attended"), and no user can see another user's gender. The badge is a signal of community trust earned over time.
How to report something
The fastest way to reach us is the in-app safety button on any activity page or profile: it routes straight to our team. You can also report an issue here or email [email protected]. Reports are reviewed by the Milau team, and you'll never be identified to the person you reported.
Approval-required activities
Any host can require approval before someone joins. When it's on, your request goes to the host to review, and your spot is held only once they confirm it. It's a simple way for hosts to keep a group the right fit, handy for women-only meet-ups, beginners' sessions, or anything more personal.
Contact local authorities first. Milau is not an emergency service. Once you're safe, please report the incident in-app or at [email protected] so we can take action on the platform.
Trust your instincts, you're never obligated to stay. Leave whenever you need to, then report what happened so we can review the host or member involved.
