Anyone can host on Milau, so safety comes from being open and accountable: verified accounts, track records you can see, host approval, and private reporting that a real person reads.
Verified accounts
Everyone signs in with a Nepali phone number and a one-time code, or with Google. That makes throwaway accounts much harder to create. Nobody sees your number.
Reliability score
Every profile carries a reliability score from 0 to 100. Each no-show takes 15 points off, and 3 no-shows in 30 days means a 7-day break from joining.
Reviews of every host
After an activity, people rate the host. Ratings, reviews and past meetups are on the host's profile, so you can check before you join.
Host approval
Hosts can turn on "Approve who joins" and review each request. They see how many activities the person has joined and their rating.
Women-friendly badge
Earned automatically, never claimed: a host needs 5 or more activities, at least 30% women attending and no safety reports in the last 90 days.
Small groups
Activities are 4 to 20 people. Small groups are easier to read, easier to leave, and friendlier for first-timers.
Your location stays private
Milau never shows where you are. On the map, activities away from a known public place are shown only by their general area.
Private reporting
Report an activity or a chat with "Report a concern", or from Help & safety in your profile. You can send it anonymously, and the host is never told who reported.
For women, specifically
Nobody on Milau can see another person's gender. Activity pages only show the group mix as counts (for example, "4 women, 3 men going").
- A heads-up before you join. If you'd be the first woman going, Milau tells you first and shows you the host and the group mix, so you can decide.
- Women-only activities. Women hosts can make an activity women-only. Only women can see and join it.
- The women-friendly badge shows which hosts have a good track record with women attending.
After a meetup
When you rate a host, you can choose "Something felt wrong". That leaves no public rating and goes privately to the Milau team. The host never sees it. You can also stop getting alerts about a person from their profile.
How to report something
The fastest way is "Report a concern" on any activity page or group chat, or from Help & safety in your profile. A person on our team reads every report, usually the same day. You can also report an issue here or email [email protected]. Reports can lead to a warning, a suspension or a permanent ban.
Contact local authorities first (Nepal Police: 100). Milau is not an emergency service. Once you're safe, report what happened in the app or at [email protected] so we can act on the platform.
Trust your instincts. You never have to stay. Meet in public places, tell a friend where you're going, and leave whenever you want. Then let us know.
